The Secondary Section Stories – 8/10

We are into a great routine in secondary now, with students being provided with lots of opportunities to show their knowledge, skills and understanding.

Both our house captains and student council members participated in a half-day workshop on developing their skills for student leadership. This will be one of many workshops throughout the year and this first one focused the most important qualities of a good leader, how to run productive meetings and working with different types of people.

Many students have been off campus to build their skills. Our football teams have not only been training hard but have now had two matches against other international schools which will help them in the lead up to their trip to Spain for the Schools World Cup tournament at the end of October. Class 11 journeyed to the ‘Steve McCurry Exhibit’ with Ms Tamara and Ms Kimman to literally explore different perspectives through the lens!

Class 6 just completed their first IMYC unit around the idea of adaptability and showcased their learning in a presentation today. They were able perform music they composed while being deprived of one of their senses- showing how people adapt in different situations. They also shared the models of the houses they constructed while speaking in French and Dutch. This demonstrated our adaptability when living in different countries and climates.
