The Secondary Section Stories – 14/01

Happy New Year – Welcome back after the winter vacation to a very chilly start to Term 2.

It is great to reconnect with our community and see everyone refreshed after the holiday. It is a shame that many of our families who travelled have been affected by the increased contagiousness of the covid variant and some students are not back on site yet. They are accessing a learning program in creative ways and hope they will rejoin us onsite soon.

Some of our students just participated in the Math Olympiad and we are looking forward to seeing their fabulous results. We will undertake our second year of ISA testing in class 3 to 9 to gather some comparative data for our students based on their progress over time and how they compare to other like-minded International schools. Class 10 will be preparing for mock and final IGCSE exams as well as selecting their IBDP subjects for next year. Likewise class 8 will do their IGCSE subject selections. Class 6 have started their next IMYC unit, ‘Creativity’ and are getting excited about their impending fashion show – ‘ISBe’s Project Runway’.

There are lots of activities planned for term 2 including our interhouse speech competition, the middle school science fair in conjunction with Math & Science week and another Duke of Edinburgh outdoor education day.

Some dates to remember:

January:

Monday 24 – Interhouse speech competition starts

Tuesday 25/26 – Practice ISA tests

Monday 31 – Math & Science week

February:
