The Primary Section Stories – 11/12

Dear Parents and Carers,

Have you set up Engage? Have you booked your parent teacher conference slot for next Friday?

If you know anyone who needs any help please contact ictsupport@isbedu.be. It is very important that you meet with the class teacher for an update on your child’s progress and to discuss any aspects of your child’s report which will be out on the 16th December.

In the run up to Christmas our students have been preparing for some performances. One of which is the Primary Music performance. In order to comply with covid regulations we have filmed the individual class performances and put them together in a video. The standard of singing and playing of musical instruments is continually improving and I am grateful to Ms Nichols for her enthusiasm and energy when she is working with our students.

I was lucky enough to go along the Herentals trip this year. It was a fantastic experience for the students. An opportunity to be independent and learn new self care skills and develop social skills further as well as the chance to try out new and different sports. I was surprised at how talented our students were. Many of the centre staff said how well behaved our students were and it made me feel proud to be part of ISBe.

At this time of year I also make scheduled visits to classrooms to see our teachers in action. I am pleased to say that the quality of teaching continues to rise. Our primary teachers are a talented bunch and really up to date with the latest pedagogy and research on how children learn best. They also inspire enthusiasm and confidence in their students. What more could we ask for?

We have had some more house activities this week with the present wrapping competition. All of the teams did very well and the presents they wrapped are now under our school tree. It all looks very festive.

Next week there will be a drama performance in school for the students to take part in or watch. Our final assembly and the class parties. Classes will also be finishing off assessments and sorting out any misconceptions students may have.

This will be our last newsletter for 2021. I wish you all a safe and happy end of the year and look forward to seeing all the students again for the new term. Perhaps we will get to have some parent activities again soon and I will be able to see you all too.

Very best wishes,

Sharon Short
