The Primary Section Stories – 11/02

Dear Parents and Carers,

We are absolutely delighted that Mr Jamie was able to reunite with class 3 on Monday. The students had prepared a ‘Welcome back’ banner and individual cards for him. He was so pleased with his reception and is thrilled to be working directly with the students again.

This week’s assembly was presented by Class 1. They were sharing all that they had learnt in their unit ‘Push Me, Pull You’. This unit investigated a range of forces including magnetism, air resistance and Gravity. The class shared their experiments with the primary school and explained all that they had learned. Then they sang an amazing song about Gravity in different places such as Jupiter and outer space. Well done Class 1. It was great, and thank you to Ms Saachi, their teacher, who helped them prepare for it.

On the 23rd February we will be holding another Primary Virtual Coffee morning. All of our classes will be sharing either a video or a live performance with you. I will be sending out the lnk via Engage next week.

The International Schools Assessments took place this week for class 3, 4 and 5. Everything went very smoothly and all of the students tried their best. If any students missed the assessments they will be rescheduled. This year we will be able to look at some individual students’ progress by comparing last year’s results with this years and once again we will be able to see how our school performs compared to other similar schools. Last year’s results were very favourable and we look forward to receiving this year’s results later in the year.

In the week beginning the 21st February we are having a Maths and Science week. The students will be doing additional fun activities related to Maths and Science all week culminating in a Maths assembly from class 4 on Friday and a mini Science fair on Friday afternoon.

There will be several house events over the next few weeks. The house toilet paper competition planned for yesterday had to be postponed due to the rain. I am not sure what this involves but I can’t wait to see it. Students and staff from across the school will be participating.

Best wishes for the coming week.
