The Primary Section Stories – 04/06

We have really enjoyed the improved weather in school enabling us to be outside a lot more. We had our first assembly for weeks on Wednesday as all of the students could be outside on the playground in their separate bubbles. The theme was ‘Celebrate’ part of our school vision and mission. We discussed how we celebrate in school with birthday parties and festivals and then we began to discuss how ‘celebrate’ can also mean ‘honour and praise publicly’. We took the opportunity to celebrate the achievements of two of our students, sang songs and enjoyed the sunshine. At the end of this term we will have our award and moving up ceremonies which will also honour and publicly praise our students.

We have been able to organise some more trips in the last few weeks. Early Years went to the farm and had a fantastic time. Class 2 went to Hidradoe yesterday and enjoyed the water activities. We were lucky that the weather remained warm and dry. Other classes are also looking forward to their class trips in the next few weeks.

Thank you to everybody who attended the Primary Coffee morning last week. This time the classes had recorded videos of their learning relating to science. Some classes had chosen a similar theme so we could really see how their learning had progressed. Well done to all the classes for getting their videos done.

Each week our class teachers send home a newsletter or share photos, links and information on Google classroom. We really want parents to know what their children are doing in school and to feel part of the learning partnership that moves our children forward. Please, please respond to and comment on these weekly publications, even if you just use an emoji. It takes a lot of work for our teachers to produce these each week and they would really welcome the feedback, especially in our younger classes. Teachers want to know that parents are really looking at them.

Please can you put sunscreen on students before they come to school for the last few weeks. We want to ensure that they are protected from sunburn.

I hope you have a wonderful weekend and look forward to seeing all of the students again on Monday.
