The Primary Section Stories – 30/06/2023

Dear Parents,

We have completed another fantastic year. I am so proud of the staff and students for all their hard work and wonderful achievements.

The end of the year is always a busy time but I will try to give you a quick rundown of some of the events.

20th June Primary Sports morning at the sports centre. Thank you to all the parents who were able to come and watch and to Mr Gabor for organising the whole thing. The students had a lot of fun taking part and were able to challenge themselves to do the activities better each time.

22nd June we had the Early Years show. They took us ‘around the world’ in song and dance. They really enjoyed performing and we all enjoyed joining in with them for the final dance. The New Zealand Haka was especially popular. Well done to everyone involved.

The 23rd was our annual school show. We were so pleased that many, many parents were able to come and enjoy the event. This year we took another step away from our traditional school shows and had an evening of variety, with musical performances, skits and humour. Our students are so talented and were very ably supported by the staff team. We recognised the students who passed the LAMDA exams and we also launched our new school website video at the evening event. It will be live on the site ready for the end of August.

Monday 26th, Tuesday 27th and Wednesday 28th June we had our Award Ceremonies, where we like to recognise the effort and achievement of our students in a wide range of subjects and attributes. Students also sang songs and supported each other as the awards were presented. Class 5 and EY 3 also had their moving up ceremonies as they transition from one section of the school to another. We wish them all the best in their new classes.

The 26th was also the date for the much anticipated and long awaited Water Dance. The Primary Student Voice organised a disco style dance that incorporated water activities. The students brought in their water pistols, a change of clothes and a towel and proceeded to have great fun soaking each other and the teachers to music. Their smiles reached from ear to ear as they left that afternoon. Everyone is asking for a repeat event next year already! Thank you as well to Ms Saachi who has run the Primary Student Voice all year and really supported the students in their activities and organisation.

Our final whole school assembly was on Thursday morning. When we celebrated the end of the academic year and said goodbye to some students and staff. As many of you already know, Ms Relf the Head of Secondary is leaving to return to Australia. I have enjoyed working with her for the last four years. Mr Jamie from Class 3 is moving to a different school closer to where he lives and Ms Eevi is also moving to another school in Belgium. We wish them all the best in their future endeavours. We are very pleased to welcome Mrs Issa as the new Head of Secondary, Ms Jenny Paul as the class 3 teacher and Ms Michelle Kidd will be taking over Class 1 as Ms Saachi is moving to Class 2. They will bring a new dimension to our very successful teaching team as we grow and develop as a school.

I am very proud of all the things our community – students, staff and parents have achieved this year. I wish you all a relaxing and enjoyable summer holiday.
