Secondary Newsletter 26/09/2025

To our valued parents and ISBe community members,

At our school, we believe that leadership is nurtured through experiences that challenge, inspire, and empower students. This term, we are proud to see our young people engaging in opportunities that develop responsibility, resilience, and a strong sense of community.

One highlight has been the launch of the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award, a globally recognised programme that encourages students to step beyond their comfort zones. Through service, physical activity, skill development, and adventurous journeys, participants are building confidence, independence, and teamwork. These experiences are not only rewarding in themselves but also equip our students with essential life skills that extend far beyond the classroom.

In parallel, student leadership within the school is thriving. Elections for the Student Council, House Captains and Vice-Captains, as well as the Student Presidency, have sparked energy and enthusiasm across the secondary section. Candidates have been delivering thoughtful speeches, sharing their vision, and encouraging their peers to place their trust in them. It has been inspiring to see the creativity, confidence, and courage demonstrated by our students as they step forward for these important roles.

We are pleased to announce the results of the Student Council elections:

  • Class 6 Representatives: Sana and Naija
  • Class 7 Representatives: Anagha and Sai
  • Class 8 Representatives: Agrima and Matea
  • Class 9 Representatives: Lien and Tanish
  • Class 10 Representatives: Hala and Ayush
  • Class 11 Representatives: Shreya, Riya, Dhanishta and Aashvi
  • Class 12 Representative: Navya
  • Treasurer & Head of the Events Planning Committee: Daniela and Aadya
  • Student Council President: Nivaan and Vice President: Tulip

We are equally proud to announce our new House Captains and Vice-Captains:

  • Unicorns: Captain – Rashi, Vice-Captain – Shaurya
  • Dragons: Captain – Diya, Vice-Captain – Dhruvi
  • Phoenix: Captain – Yan, Vice-Captain – Riona

We congratulate all our elected student leaders and look forward to seeing them guide their peers, strengthen school spirit, and lead with responsibility.

Looking ahead, we are preparing to celebrate World Teachers’ Day on the 6th of October. Each year, our Student Council honours our teachers by serving them during a special lunch provided by the school. This tradition is a meaningful way for students to show their gratitude for the dedication and care our teachers bring to their work every day. To support this event, we would greatly appreciate the assistance of parents who are able to volunteer in covering some of the lunchtime duties, allowing teachers to fully enjoy their well-deserved break. If you are interested in helping, please reach out to me directly via email, we would truly value and appreciate your support.

I would also like to take this opportunity to thank our Class 6 parents for their engagement and for joining the Zoom meeting last Friday. Your support and collaboration are deeply appreciated. At the same time, I would like to draw attention to an important concern we have noticed: a number of students have been bringing or purchasing energy drinks. These drinks contain very high levels of caffeine and sugar, which can negatively affect concentration, sleep, and overall health. As a school community, it is vital that we raise awareness around this issue and work together in guiding our children toward healthier choices.

Through these experiences, whether pursuing the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award, stepping forward in student leadership, showing appreciation for teachers, or making better choices for their wellbeing, our students are learning to lead with responsibility, to serve with gratitude, and to grow as members of a caring community.

Warm regards,

Tala Issa
