Secondary Newsletter- 24/10/2025

To our valued parents and ISBe community members,

First and foremost, we wish all our families who celebrate a very Happy Diwali. May this festival of lights bring joy, peace, and prosperity to your homes.

Our recent Sports Day was a wonderful success, bringing together the whole secondary school in an atmosphere that was both competitive and fun. Students showed determination, teamwork, and spirit throughout the events. A special thank you goes to Mr. Gabor for his excellent organisation, ensuring the day ran smoothly and was enjoyed by all. The occasion was followed by our Sports Awards Ceremony, where we celebrated individual achievements, commitment, and team successes. See Post HERE.

We are also delighted to welcome two new interns, Slavik and Jorre from NHL Stenden, who will be working with us in EAL and Humanities until Christmas. Their presence will provide valuable support to both students and staff.

This month also saw our Music Assessment Assembly, where students showcased their progress and talents to peers and teachers. A heartfelt thank you goes to Ms. Nichols for leading this wonderful initiative.

Our French trip was a rich and meaningful experience. Students visited the Belgian National Radio and Television headquarters (RTBF) in Brussels, linking directly to their IB French unit on Human Ingenuity. The focus was on the theme of Media, exploring how different outlets operate; from television channels to radio and how journalists develop content for their audiences. Many thanks to Madam Bianca for organising this insightful trip.

The Marbella football trip offered our boys the chance to enjoy healthy competition, teamwork, and camaraderie through sport, further strengthening their bonds and skills on the field. Special thanks to Mr. Ruben for his organisation, and to Mr. Koenraad for accompanying the students.

This term also brought vibrant community events. House Pride Day was a colourful celebration, with students proudly wearing their house colours and engaging in activities that strengthened their team spirit. The Halloween Bake Sale, organised by the Student Council, was another highlight; combining delicious treats with creativity. The Halloween Dress-Up Day added extra fun and energy, with students and staff alike enjoying the festive atmosphere.

As we head into the midterm break, I would like to wish all families a restful and enjoyable holiday. Before the break, you will receive an email with details regarding the upcoming block exams. In addition, Middle School parents should by now have received the information and registration form for the ski trip.

Thank you for your continued support, and we look forward to an exciting second half of the term.

Warm regards,

Tala Issa
