Secondary Newsletter 12/12/2025

As we come to the end of the term, it is a fitting moment to reflect on what has been a rich and vibrant period of learning, community, and student leadership within the Secondary School.

Throughout the term, house events have played an important role in strengthening school spirit and a sense of belonging. Students participated enthusiastically, demonstrating cooperation, respect, and pride in their houses. Alongside this, the Student Council has been highly active, leading initiatives and organising activities that have added energy and purpose to daily school life. Their work has been a strong example of leadership and student voice.

Academically, students have engaged seriously with their learning across subjects. Assessments, projects, and examinations have provided valuable opportunities for reflection and growth. Teachers have focused on high standards while also ensuring students receive clear feedback to support continued progress.

We also enjoyed several memorable community events. The Winter Dance brought students together in a festive and positive atmosphere, while Sinterklaas celebrations added warmth and joy to the final days of term. In addition, Class 8 delivered an assembly that highlighted their learning in Geography, complemented by a musical performance, showcasing both academic understanding and creativity.

Here is the final updated end-of-term newsletter article, with the Class 8 Lie Detector workshop included and fully integrated:

Secondary School Newsletter – End of Term Reflection

In addition, Class 8 delivered an assembly that highlighted their learning in Geography, complemented by a musical performance, showcasing both academic understanding and creativity.

Class 8 also participated in a highly engaging Lie Detector workshop, during which students worked with a journalist to explore how misinformation, bias, and credibility operate in the media. The session encouraged critical thinking, questioning of sources, and responsible engagement with information, skills that are increasingly important in today’s world.

As the term draws to a close, we also mark a number of farewells. This week was the final day for our interns, Mr. Jorre and Mr. Slavik, whose contributions to the school have been greatly appreciated. We also said goodbye to Ms. Pinar, our Class 6 English teacher and EAL maternity cover. We thank her for her dedication and commitment and look forward to welcoming Ms. Jawin back in the new term.

As we move into the seasonal holidays, this is a time to pause, reflect, and reconnect with what matters most. We encourage our students to carry forward the values of kindness, respect, and empathy, both within and beyond the school community. Small acts of kindness can make a meaningful difference, and they remain at the heart of our shared values.

I would like to thank all students for their effort and engagement throughout the term, and families for their continued support. We wish everyone a peaceful, joyful, and restorative holiday season and look forward to welcoming students back refreshed and ready for the new term ahead.
