Secondary Newsletter- 10/10/2025

To our valued parents and ISBe community members,

Over the past two weeks, our Secondary students have taken part in a variety of activities that have brought the school community together in meaningful ways.

We began with our first House Meeting of the year, where students came together to connect with their houses and begin building a sense of spirit and identity. The enthusiasm and energy in the room were a wonderful way to launch this important aspect of school life.

We also celebrated Teachers’ Day, which was made truly special through the combined efforts of our students and parent community. The Student Council took the lead in organising a memorable day: they served food, prepared thoughtful cards for each teacher so that students could share words of appreciation, and created a heartfelt video to honour their teachers. A special thank you goes to Mrs Gothal (Amogh and Anagha’s mother), Mrs Shah (Sahuarya and Samvaig’s mother), and Mrs Karathanassi (Ekaterini’s mother), who generously volunteered their time to cover the teachers on duty. Thanks to their support, all teachers were able to enjoy the lunch provided by the school together and on time. We truly felt appreciated, and the strong sense of community shone through the celebration.

In addition, we conducted a lockdown drill this week. Students responded calmly and responsibly, which was reassuring and demonstrated their understanding of the importance of safety procedures.

Looking ahead, we are excited for Sports Day on Monday. Please note that students should be dropped directly at the Sports Center in the morning. Parents are warmly invited to join us and cheer for the students during what promises to be a joyful and spirited day of sport.

As part of the Festival of Lights, we are also preparing for a Recyclable Fashion Show to promote sustainability and recycling. Some of our Grade 11 students are leading this initiative through their CAS (Creativity, Activity, Service) programme, a core component of the IB Diploma that encourages creativity, physical activity, and service to the community.

This event will be an opportunity for all students to show creativity, learn about recycling, and earn house points. We kindly ask for your support in sending recyclable items with your children, such as tin foil, garbage bags, plastic bottles, old fabric, and other similar materials listed on the attached poster. House points will be awarded for each contribution, and Reception will track the totals to help us start the year with motivated house teams.

Warm regards,
