Primary Newsletter – 30/01/2025
Dear Parents and Carers,
Spirit week, 19th to the 23rd January was very uplifting for us all. Well done to those families who supported their children with the different outfits. R U OK day was especially good when students and staff paid attention to their mental wellbeing. Staff were delighted that the Student Council and House Captains (along with Mrs Smilkstein) set up a beautiful relaxation room for teachers to use during the day, with soft lighting, gentle music and relaxing activities as well as some snacks and drinks for those low energy moments.
The school photo session with the outside photographer went very smoothly. The photographers work very well with the students to get some good shots. Thank you to the staff who organise the rotas and ensure everyone gets their turn.
The vaccinations also took place successfully.
The Computer Science Olympiad took place on the 22nd. It was a tricky paper as always but our students were very focussed and tried their very best.
We also received the results of the Maths Olympiad. These were very good as usual, with some of our students achieving Rank 1 in the world. Congratulations to everyone who took part in that.
This week we had House Pride day. For a change everyone dressed in black and/or white and accessorised in their house colours. Everyone got very excited and cheered for their house. Students and staff were able to win points for their house by having as many house coloured accessories as possible.
We award house points in Primary for effort, kindness, tidying up well, collaborating well as a team and good manners and I’m pleased to say there are plenty of housepoints floating about!
Yesterday there was a meeting of the parent forum. Any parents interested in joining should contact Mr Black directly.
Next week we have two school trips. Class 2 are heading off to the ‘dinosaur museum’ and class 4 are going to the History Museum. The secondary mock exams have started and this means that there are some alternative arrangements put in place for Primary such as occasional room changes or moving more quietly around school.
Have a wonderful weekend and a great week ahead.
Warm regards,
Sharon Short
