Primary Newsletter 28/11/2025

Dear Parents and Carers,

We have been carrying out class assessments recently. We give students tasks or specific activities to see how much of what they have learnt has been retained and fully understood. These observations and assessments inform our report writing along with the students’ everyday work that the teachers continually evaluate. The reports will be out on the 11th December and the Parent teacher conferences take place on the 12th December. If you have any queries you can talk to your child’s teacher and gain some clarification. Please be aware of the time constraints in these meetings. If you need a longer appointment you can request an additional meeting in January.

As a school we have been looking to extend our Information  Technology opportunities and one area that we would like to develop is robotics. Last Friday we had a company come in and give us a robotics demonstration. It was very informative and the students from class 3 to 8 were able to see what could be done. In January we will be offering a robotics CCP with the view to create a robotics team and start entering competitions as a school. This is very exciting so please keep an eye out for the CCP offer for next term.

This week class 2 had their exit point for their unit ‘Young Entrepreneurs’. All of the members of the class designed a product, made a prototype, carried out some market research and prepared some business costs – high flying stuff for the age. On Monday they each presented their business plan to potential investors or Sharks as they are known in the popular programme Shark Tank (or Dragon’s Den in some regions). Three of the business proposals were chosen and then today in assembly those were presented to the whole of the Primary School. All of the students came up with some great ideas and it was very hard for the Sharks to choose. Everyone there was very impressed. Congratulations to class 2.

Today has also been Fluffy Friday! The students came in their comfortable clothes, with cuddly toys and blankets and in the afternoon they were able to have hot chocolate and popcorn, share a story and carry out some calm and cosy activities. This event was organised by the Primary student Voice and was free to all students. Well done to everyone involved.

Tomorrow is the Festival of Lights, the students have been working hard to create their stalls and practise their performances. We look forward to seeing you all there.

Next week class 5 will be going on their residential trip to the European Space Centre. We wish them all a wonderful time.

Warm regards,
