Primary Newsletter- 24/10/2025

Dear Parents and Carers,

There has been a lot of celebrating in school today. We had our Halloween parade in the morning. Thank you to everyone who supported their child to come in a costume. The classes have had little celebrations and then this afternoon the Primary Student Voice organised a Halloween activity for the whole of Primary to take part in. They made ghost bananas, monster mouths and decorated mini muffins. They had a torchlight challenge, ghost writing, temporary tattoos and made monster faces froth at the mouth with bicarbonate of soda and vinegar. We think everyone enjoyed themselves.

Last week for assembly we set up our Tooth Challenge where we asked all of our students from Early Years to class 5 to accept the challenge of cleaning their teeth twice a day. Ms. Briana, our school nurse, showed the students how to brush their teeth correctly. She also answered any questions. We have some certificates and stickers ready for those students who manage to it every day for the four weeks.

We have been delighted to welcome Ms. Laura back into our Early Years reception class, perhaps known as the Dinosaurs to you. She has been on maternity leave and is now ready to return to work. Ms. Lili and Ms. Laura have shared their thoughts with you.

This week we ended Mrs. Harwood and EYF’s food collection for Moeders voor Moeders. The students packed the food up neatly in boxes and it was all collected on Tuesday. All of our offerings were very gratefully received. We would like to thank everyone who contributed to the food collection and of course to Mrs. Harwood and her class for organising it.

On Thursday we had our House Pride Day. Students dressed in their house colours and each house had a team to wrap a volunteer as a mummy, using toilet paper! There was a lot of cheering and each house did very well. Our volunteer mummies were Mr. Black, Mr. Antonio and Mr. Laurent. We really appreciate all those students who added home made touches to their house colours and we were able to award house points to all of those students.

We are beginning to plan for Literacy week straight after the half term break. We will be collecting for veterans by selling poppies and celebrating Armistice day on the 10th November and then we start working towards the Festival of Lights at the end of November. So many exciting activities for our students and our parents to participate in.

Next week is a holiday week for us. We are all worn out as are the students. I wish you a wonderful weekend and a great week ahead.

Warm regards,

Sharon Short
