Primary Newsletter 06/06/2025
Dear Parents and Carers,
I hope you all enjoyed International Day despite the weather. It was really lovely to see you all there. The planned activities were able to go ahead even if not in the expected location. The food and drink all sold out and we hope to have made a profit for our students. Thank you to everyone who contributed to the success of the day. The students as always were enthusiastic and committed to their stalls and performances.
Early Years had their trip to the farm which they thoroughly enjoyed. They were able to see a lot of different animals, enjoy a pony ride and a tractor ride. It is a lovely experience for our youngest children and they learn so much.
Class 1 and 2 went to PIME outdoor centre in Lier for their class trip. They were looking at habitats, especially wetland ones, and PIME has some marshy areas and wildlife ponds which allowed them to really find out a lot. They were also able to play games related to their learning and I am told by the teachers nobody wanted to leave! Now that’s a sign of a great trip.

On the second of June we had our Primary Sports morning. For this event we split the students into houses and each house has three teams. The teams include students from every primary age with our Class 5 students looking after their teams. The teams choose their team name and make their banners the week before so everything is ready on the day. The teachers man each activity and show the students what to do. We were blessed with good weather, not too hot but without any rain and the children were able to rotate around all of the sports related activities. Points were awarded for team spirit and sport performance. At the end every student was awarded a medal and we will announce the winning teams in the final assembly on the 26th of June.
All of the students said they really enjoyed the event and we had great feedback from the parents who were able to come.

Today we had a Class 3 assembly. They told us all about the Junior Duke Award that they have been doing this year. Each child has to complete 10 life skill challenges from a selection of 14. They have done some amazing things and really liked working for the award. As class 3 has been such a success we will be introducing this to the whole of primary from next August. Look out for the Junior Duke introductory letter which will be coming out in the next week or so.
Looking ahead:
Class 3 and 4 will be going on their Sporta trip on the 11th June. Please remember that all trips are mandatory.
The school end of year show is coming up on the 19th June. We hope to see everyone there supporting the school.
Our award ceremonies, when all students receive their certificates and any other awards, will take place in the last week of school.
Have a great weekend and a great week ahead.
Kind regards,
Sharon Short
Head of Primary
Safeguarding Lead.
