The Secondary Newsletter 25/04/2025
To our valued parents and ISBe community members,
We hope all families enjoyed a restful and rejuvenating spring break. As we return to campus, the energy and enthusiasm from the weeks prior to the holiday remain strong, and we are excited for a dynamic term ahead.
Before the break, our school community came together for the Student-Led Conferences, an important opportunity for students to reflect on their learning and share their progress with parents and guardians. The maturity and insight demonstrated by our students were impressive, and we thank all families for their active involvement and support.
Among the final events before the break, we also celebrated the winners of our Competitive Sports Day for Classes 5 to 12. It was a fantastic morning of athleticism and school spirit. While there were some truly outstanding individual performances, we extend our congratulations to everyone who took part and gave it their all. It was a fine example of perseverance and team pride.
On Wednesday, April 23, Dutch language students from Classes 10, 11, and 12 embarked on an enriching excursion to The Hague to deepen their understanding of Dutch culture. The visit included a guided tour of the Mauritshuis museum, where students admired works by Dutch Golden Age masters, including Johannes Vermeer, whose extraordinary use of light and colour continues to captivate. The trip also featured visits to the Binnenhof, home of the Dutch Prime Minister’s office, and the International Court of Justice, providing a valuable civic and historical context.
This week also saw an exciting moment of innovation: our Racing Car CCP students took to the Herentals racing circuit to test drive the car they designed and built. The result of months of collaborative effort and problem-solving, this hands-on experience was a proud milestone for the group. We also recently celebrated Pride Day across our house teams, a colourful and energetic event that brought the community together in a spirit of fun, collaboration, and identity.
Finally, a reminder that next week includes a long weekend for all students, except those sitting official IBDP examinations, which will continue as scheduled. We wish those students continued focus and success in this crucial period.
We look forward to the rest of the term and all that lies ahead.
